It is only a matter of time that the iOS and Android universe goes the way of their desktop counter-parts. What do I mean by that, well I foresee more and more interest in developing web-apps that are mobile-friendly and whose content is specifically geared to being consumed via mobile platforms. This will cause a little shake-out for functionality use-cases. Installed apps will be games and utility gadgets, things that have a very specific contextual purpose. Web apps will be more geared towards things like extending a company's brand and a marketing outreach, or apps that would require connectivity anyway to function and don't require local data storage (until HTML 5 gets full implemented).
